This newest tablet from Apple will be on sale in the United States, UK, Japan and China.
In the recent quarters, iPad sales have been plummeting as more and more customers prefer iPhones with bigger screens.
In 2014, Apple sold up to 54 million units of iPads, a 19 percent drop from a year earlier.
Since the launch of the 9.7-inch screen iPad in 2010, Apple has released a smaller version in 2012 featuring a 7.9-inch screen.
On September 9 this year, Apple unveiled the iPad Pro, its biggest yet iPad. The release of this latest unit is seen as Apple’s deliberate intention to compete with Microsoft’s Pro 3, which features a 12-inch screen.
Apple hopes to attract the business customer with its latest release.
According to research firm Forrester, businesses will represent up to 20 percent of the tablet market intake by 2018 compared to just 14 percent in 2015. It is expected that tablet ownership will increase from 218 units to 250 million units.
According to market analysts, the launch of the larger iPad coupled with that of the 6S Plus and the large iPhone 6 could see a much smaller market for mini iPads as more consumers opt for mobile devices with a larger screen.
Although Wall Street is extremely keen on the market performance of the iPhone, Apple seems to be shifting its focus on its new TV device and its even newer tablet to continue to boost the company’s growth.
